BEARINGS

BSC stocks a wide range of bearings for all your applications. When purchasing bearings, remember to always consider the forces being applied to the bearing, as well as the outer diameter and the shaft diameter where the bearing is required to fit.

Ultimately, bearings allow moving parts to run smoother by reducing the friction between two objects. There are two main bearing categories: radial bearings and thrust bearings. Radial bearings are designed to support forces which are perpendicular to the direction of the shaft, or radial loads. Thrust bearings support forces that are parallel to the direction of the shaft, or axial load.

Ball bearings, roller bearings and split bearings are the most commonly used bearings. Ball bearings are used for smaller loads, roller bearings are more commonly used to support heavier loads and split bearings are ideal for quick installations in tight areas which are not easily accessible.
