Split Roller Bearings

Split cylindrical or split spherical roller bearings, as the name indicates, are bearings with split inner rings, outer rings and cages. With conventional radial roller bearing, replacing or mounting the bearing would need the coupling or gears removed, the drives dismounted, or the shaft drivetrains dismantled. It’s not the same for split roller bearings. The bearings are typically mounted in a cartridge that fits into different housings to build a complete unit. By disassembling the bearing unit into smaller components, they can easily be mounted in cramped and inaccessible conditions. This is particularly advantageous where the application is either hard to access or where maintenance might be a challenge, such as between a head pulley and a gearbox or motor. Another application is on long shafts that require support at several positions, or on cranked shafts. In all the above applications, using split roller bearings can considerably reduce machinery maintenance and repair time. At BSC, we have access to Australia’s largest range of split roller bearings to help you improve productivity and minimise your plant downtime. We have Cooper split cylindrical roller bearings available with a variety of housings to suit pedestal and flange mountings, while FAG split spherical roller bearings can be easily retrofitted to suit your application. We also stock NTN split roller bearings to meet all your requirements. Give us a call to find out more.
