The Belt Installation and Rotation Device (BIRD™) is one of their latest innovations designed to safeguard equipment operators against pinch points during belt installation and maintenance. This device is in line with Gates’ mission to prioritise their customers’ safety while ensuring top-quality products.
The BIRD™ is a safety device that allows the rotational inspection of a drive while it is shut down and locked out. This device eliminates the need to manually pull on the belt to turn on the drive, preventing potential injuries to the equipment operator. According to Rob Michelson, National Product Manager for Belts at Motion, the key function of the BIRD™ is to avoid the need for manual intervention, making the belt installation and maintenance processes safer and more efficient.
