Motion specialists cotton-on to save processing plant

In the cotton processing industry, downtime is not an option. When a fault occurs, getting specialists to the site and analysing the problem quickly is critical. At the Australian Food and Fibre (AFF) cotton processing plant in New South Wales, two hydraulic technicians had to wait for a recurring fault to shut down a vital piece of production equipment called a tramper. The tramper compresses lint cotton into a baling chamber to reduce the volume of the press box required.

In operation, lint cotton is pressed into the baling chamber by a second hydraulic cylinder in the tramper circuit.
