15 Aug Victorian quarry saves thousands with crusher belt upgrade
A quarrying and materials recycling plant in Melbourne’s west has undergone a V-belt upgrade on their primary crusher machines, eventuating in a $90,000 downtime cost saving. Rob Michaelson, National Product Manager for Belts at Motion Australia, explains that the customer was only getting two to six weeks of wear life from their previous standard belts, which were cracking due to heat.
“The added benefit of this customer’s upgrade is that they were able to go from using ten belts down to six,” he points out. “This has helped provide better overhung load and increase the drive’s bearing life. The replacement product is a bit more compact and creates a much more robust unit.”
