Steve Hittmann, Motion Australia’s Category Manager for Industrial Drive Systems, has witnessed the advantages of investing in the right equipment first-hand on many industrial sites. When it comes to electric motors used to power conveyors, pumps, heating and ventilation, a mismatch in product and application requirements can prove extremely costly in the long run.

“At a rate of 15 cents per kilowatt-hour, a typical 15kW continuous running motor uses almost $21,000 worth of electricity annually – about 18 times its initial purchase price. More than 90% of an electric motor’s total cost of ownership can be attributed to its energy use,” says Steve.
