12 Sep Not just good on paper: A proven track record for dryer roll bearings
During the manufacturing process, paper is fed through a vacuum and pressing stages of the machine, before being dried to remove any excess moisture. This controlled heat transfer effect also serves to bond the paper’s fibres together, using large cylinder-shaped rollers.
The bearings on these rollers need to be resistant to the high temperature variations within the machine, to avoid inner ring cracking and hoop stress. In answer to this industry-specific challenge, NSK has developed the TL (Tough and Long-life) Spherical Roller Bearing, which features a unique heat protection treatment on patented carburised steel.
