Ripping through competition with Motion Engineering

In the paper and board industry, the smooth operation of every roll holds immense significance. The proper functioning of various components within a paper machine is vital for uninterrupted production. Unfortunately, a NSW paper factory experienced a catastrophic bearing failure in one of its bottom rolls, leading to unexpected downtime and significant disruptions in production. Identifying the urgency to mitigate the impact on the customer, Alan Phillips, Motion’s Engineering Services Manager, stressed the need for a prompt and efficient resolution.

Alan highlights that water and moisture are common culprits behind lubrication breakdown, corrosion, and bearing failure in the paper and board industry. Equipment within this industry often faces exposure to water, which can infiltrate bearings through factors like poor seals or condensation. To ensure seamless operations and prevent water ingress, effective sealing, proper maintenance practices, and appropriate lubrication are crucial.
